The 2012 November season was one of our busiest on record. Our display teams travelled the length and breadth of the country to provide shows for cities, towns, schools and community groups.
Our show for Cambridge City Council, which attracted some 15,000 spectators, was widely regarded as one of the best ever displays staged in on the midsummer common site, and was designed in association with master pyrotechnician Wilf Scott.
The Italian Job
The ‘Festival of Fireworks’ at Catton Hall, organised by Jubilee, is one of the largest annual fireworks events in the UK, attracting pyrotechnic artists from home and abroad – to display their talents in front of an enthusiastic audience. Italian company Parente staged their first ever UK show at The Festival in September, to great acclaim. The international reputation of Parente was much in evidence as they filled the skies above Catton Hall with breathtaking sequences of noise and colour- characteristic of the Italian display style.
Hannover Pyromusical Competition
Jubilee were honoured to represent the UK at the 22nd International Fireworks Competition in Hannover, Germany. The event, which is staged within the beautiful and extensive Herrenhausen Gardens is unique in that it is a ‘baroque’ pyro-musical competition, with an emphasis on classical music and close-proximity effects.
Jubilee’s performance suffered from still atmospheric conditions and excessive smoke build-up, which obscured many of the effects. Portugese company Luso were judged to have provided the winning display.
Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
In June 2012, we provided numerous patriotic celebration fireworks displays – to help celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Our display teams travelled the length and breadth of the UK to provide cities, towns and communities with a night to remember for years to come.
There was a return to traditional display styles, with regal set-pieces and a huge fire-portrait of Her Majesty as the centre-piece of our show at Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
Jubilee were privileged to take part in the Danang International Fireworks Contest, which was staged on the banks of the Han River in Vietnam. Other participants included China, Korea, Vietnam and Italy (winners). Organised by International Events Consultants Global 2000, this event is the largest fireworks presentation in Vietnam, and took place on 29th and 30th April before an audience in excess of 100,000.
Lily's Big Day
Pop star and celebrity Lily Allen married Sam Cooper on 11th June 2011 at the beautiful village Church in Cranham, Gloucester. The evening reception featured a specially commissioned fireworks display by Jubilee.
Lily’s father, actor Keith Allen, composed a ‘sparkler song’ specially for the occasion and, as the fireworks burst in the sky, Lily, Sam and her guests waved their sparklers. Who says that celebrities don’t have innocent fun!?
Large scale outdoor displays are a speciality of ours – but we do other things too! Jubilee’s pyrotechnic skills were used to create some of the stage special effects for the Arcadia Spectacular set at the Glastonbury Festival.
Working in association with partner company Phoenix Fireworks, Jubilee provided high impact visual effects to enhance a stunning performance by the Arcadia team.
Kings of Leon – IOW Festival
Jubilee have provided the finale fireworks for the Isle of Wight Festival since 2008. The Festival, which is one of the largest in the UK, attracts thousands of spectators and the world’s biggest bands.
In 2011, The Kings of Leon made an appearance and Jubilee were asked to provide the spectacular aerial fireworks to accompany their final number.
